Wilder signs new four-and-a-half-year contract with Sheffield United
Chris Wilder has signed a new four-and-a-half-year deal with Sheffield United which will keep him at Bramall Lane until 2024.
The 52-year-old, who was voted the LMA (League Managers Association) Manager of the Year in 2018, has overseen two promotions in his first three seasons at his boyhood club and currently has The Blades pushing for a possible Europa League place next term.
Many people’s favourites for relegation at the start of the season, United have won seven of their 21 games back in the top-flight playing some of the most attractive football in the country. Wilder’s name has already been linked with the recent vacancies at Everton and Arsenal and if he continues to achieve success at the South Yorkshire side, then his name will also be one of the hottest in the summer when the managerial merry-go-round begins once again.
Wilder made over 100 appearances during two spells as a player for The Blades and the man from West Riding has certainly done the hard yards in management too, gaining promotion from all four divisions of the football league pyramid.
