Manchester United are reportedly keen on landing the signature of Atletico Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente on a temporary basis for the season.

The Red Devils are short in the midfield with the injuries to Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay and they are said to be eyeing at least one signing to reinforce the department.

Bruno Fernandes has already been fancied to make the move from Sporting but M.E.N claims that the club are also keen on signing Llorente, who is more defensive-minded when compared to Fernandes.

Llorente has hardly earned any action since his permanent move from Real Madrid during the summer and he has started just three games under the guidance of Diego Simeone.

Atleti are said to be assessing the midfielder's future and it is suggested that United are prepared to tempt them by proposing a short-term loan with the option for a permanent purchase in the summer.

Fred and Nemanja Matic are the only senior midfielders, who are fit for United at the moment. Andreas Pereira has occasionally featured in the centre of the park, though he is not a natural in the position.
