Barcelona make surprise £20m bid for Chelsea winger
Barcelona have submitted a late £20m bid for Chelsea winger Willian, reports Sky Sports.
The Catalans turn out to be perennial admirers of the Brazilian winger, and they have made a late offer in an attempt to lure him away from the Stamford Bridge before the deadline day.
On the other hand, Willian’s contract is due to expire this summer and he is on the verge of becoming a free agent.
Regardless, the 31-year-old has enjoyed considerable playing time under Frank Lampard this season, racking up four goals and four assists in 23 appearances in Premier League. His stand-out performance came against Spurs where he registered a brace.
Barca’s interest in Willian makes sense due to the reason that Antoine Griezmann hasn’t been convincing on the flanks while Ousmane Dembele continues to be injury-prone. Academy talent Ansu Fati is a diamond in the rough and Quique Setien wants to bring some added experience to the winger's slot.
Blaugrana are also in search of a new striker following the knee surgery to Luis Suarez.
