Ray Parlour picks his first-choice striker for Arsenal
Arsenal legend Ray Parlour believes Alexandre Lacazette should be the first-choice striker ahead of Eddie Nketiah after finding his scoring touch against Newcastle United last weekend.
The Frenchman had recently gone nine games without finding the net but he managed to end of the run by scoring the final goal in the 4-0 drubbing of the Magpies.
Besides this, he also came up with an assist in the 10-minute cameo at the Emirates Stadium and Parlour feels the 28-year-old should now preserve his position as the main striker.
"Eddie struggled first half, holding the ball up, which is what Lacazette does so well. He brings other people into play," he was quoted as saying by TalkSPORT.
"Second half he was better and had a couple of opportunities for himself. That's where managers have to make big decisions, but at least he's showing he will give the youngsters a go."
Arsenal are currently within seven points off the top four of the league standings after fourth-placed Chelsea suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester United.
A top-five spot could cement their Champions League berth for next season following Manchester City's two-year European competition ban imposed by UEFA.
The north London side will now switch their attention to the Europa League. They are scheduled to face Olympiacos on the road in the first leg of their round of 32 tie on Thursday night.
