Manchester United to battle Arsenal for France World Cup winner?
Manchester United could reportedly compete with Premier League rivals Arsenal in the race to sign Blaise Matuidi from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
The 32-year-old has been with the French champions since the 2017/18 season and he recently confirmed that Les Parisiens have extended his contract until the summer of 2021.
Despite this, it is claimed that the midfielder would prefer a fresh challenge elsewhere and as per Manchester Evening News, both United and Arsenal are likely to go head-to-head to land his services.
United have been heavily fancied to offload Paul Pogba in the summer and Matuidi appears to have been earmarked as an experienced option to replace his fellow compatriot.
Meanwhile, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has plans to overhaul the squad in the summer and Matuidi appears as one of the targets despite him being in the final phase of his playing career.
Both United and Arsenal will be in Europa League action in the second leg of the round of 32 on Thursday night. The Red Devils are scheduled to host Club Brugge while the Gunners will entertain Olympiacos at the Emirates.
