Chelsea identify Brazilian defender as Ben Chilwell alternative
Chelsea will reportedly make an attempt to sign Alex Telles from Porto, suppose they are unable to strike a deal with Leicester City for Ben Chilwell.
The Blues have been linked with Chilwell for the past few months and manager Frank Lampard has earmarked the Englishman as the main target to reinforce the left-back department.
However, according to Goal.com, the club could find it difficult to negotiate a deal with the Foxes for Chilwell and they are understood to have identified an alternative.
The same publication claims that Telles is the other target on their wishlist and he could be available for a cheaper price, considering his current deal with Porto expires in June 2021.
Telles has been in superb form for Porto this term and he has already contributed 10 goals and nine assists in all competitions. He has recently turned down an extension with the view to pursuing a fresh challenge elsewhere.
Chelsea will be aiming to maintain their fourth position in the league standings when they face relegation-threatened Aston Villa on the road on Saturday afternoon.
