Manchester United enter fresh contract talks with midfielder

Matic ready to sign new Man Utd contract

Manchester United have started negotiations over a fresh two-year deal with midfielder Nemanja Matic shortly after triggering a 12-month extension.

The Serbian made just four league appearances during the first half of the season and it seemed that he could be shown the exit door in the January transfer window.

However, the midfielder has since revived his United career with a regular run of starts in the top-flight and he has been one of the club's in-form players over the past few months.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer recently confirmed the decision to extend Matic's contract for next season with the 12-month clause available and The Sun claims that the midfielder could stay much longer.

The club are pleased with the upturn in form of the former Chelsea man and they are reportedly willing to hand him with a fresh two-year contract until 2022 with a reasonable pay rise.

Matic has been absent for just one of the previous 10 Premier League games for the Red Devils and that was due to the one-game suspension for his sending off in the second leg of the League Cup semi-final.
