Manchester United are clear favourites to sign £72m defender
Manchester United are reportedly the clear favourites to sign Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli during this summer's transfer window.
The Senegalese footballer has been on the radar of several Premier League sides in the past but Napoli have shown no intention to sell.
However, the centre-back is said to be keen on pursuing a fresh challenge this summer and La Repubblica claims that United are ahead of Manchester City in the hunt for the defender's signature.
Koulibaly was the subject of a failed £95m bid from the Red Devils in December 2018 but he could be available for around £72m when the transfer window reopens at the end of the season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains a huge admirer of the French-born defender and he is said to consider the 28-year-old as one of the top three centre-backs in world football.
Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire are the regular choices for United in the central defence at the moment but the arrival of Koulibaly could see the former dropping down the selection order.
