Arsenal to miss out on Thomas Partey signing
Arsenal are reportedly set to miss out on a summer move for Thomas Partey with Atletico Madrid close to negotiating a contract extension with the midfielder.
The north London side are understood to have earmarked the Ghanaian midfielder as one of their prime targets, particularly with the affordable £45m release clause on his contract.
However, according to AS, the midfielder is not actively seeking a move away from the Wanda Metropolitano and the Spanish club are confident of committing him to a fresh deal.
The same publication claims that Atleti will raise his buy-out value to £90m with the extension which would put off the Gunners from making a summer approach for the player's services.
Partey made his debut for Diego Simeone's side in 2015 and he has since racked 174 appearances in all competitions. Though he is a defensive midfield by trade, he has played in the right-back position on occasions.
Partey has contributed 15 goals and 12 assists in his Atleti career.
