Ceballos keen on extending Arsenal loan to complete season

Spain international Daniel Ceballos has said that he is determined to complete the 2019/2020 season with Arsenal before making the return to parent club Real Madrid.

The midfielder joined the Gunners on a season-long loan from the Bernabeu last summer and he has since managed 24 appearances for the club across all competitions.

Ceballos' loan contract with the Gunners is due to expire at the end of June but he is keen on extending his stay for a few more months in order to finish the current season which has been halted due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"I finish my contract on June 30 but I would have to [continue to] play for Arsenal [when football returns],' he told El Chiringuito de Jugones. "I don't know how [that would work]. It would be irresponsible from my side to talk about my future."

Ceballos made the majority of his appearances under ex-boss Unai Emery and he appeared out-of-favour under Mikel Arteta until the final few games before the league's suspension due to the COVID-19 virus.

The Gunners are yet to open negotiations with Los Blancos regarding a permanent deal for Ceballos and reports claim that the midfielder could prefer a return to Real Betis next term.
