Liverpool star admits Manchester United interest
Liverpool attacker Sadio Mane has revealed that he had held an interest in joining Manchester United before the Reds reached an agreement to sign him from Southampton in 2016.
The Senegal international has been a top signing for the Merseyside giants and he has contributed 77 goals and 34 assists from 161 appearances across all competitions.
However, the 27-year-old has revealed that he was 'thinking' about a possible move to Old Trafford before Jurgen Klopp's side were able to secure his signature.
"We were thinking most about Manchester United. That was a tough time for me as I was on the bench so I was not thinking about anyone calling me," he told The Times.
Mane is presently contracted to the Reds until the summer of 2023. Of late, he has been linked with a possible exit with Real Madrid said to be keen on landing his services.
Zinedine Zidane is understood to be a huge fan of the former Red Bull Salzburg man. Still, a deal appears unlikely to happen with the current global crisis and the £140m plus valuation of the forward.
