Henderson to return to United - Wilder

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has said that Dean Henderson is likely to return to Manchester United when the current season reaches its conclusion.

The goalkeeper spent the 2018/2019 campaign on loan with the Blades and he helped them seal promotion to the Premier League after more than a decade.

He was re-signed by the Blades on another temporary stint this term and he has since impressed with a tally of 10 clean sheets from 28 appearances.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Wilder has revealed that Henderson has the ambition of playing for the Red Devils and making his mark with the England national side.

He told: "I spoke to Dean after, he wants to win 50 caps and play for Manchester United and he has to overcome disappointments. He is pushing now, he's a young boy and we talk about mistakes but he gets over them."

At present, Henderson's chances of claiming the starting spot with United remain slim with David de Gea continuing to earn the trust of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer despite his inconsistent displays.

A recent report from The Athletic stated that Henderson may re-join Sheffield on loan for a third-straight season and that could be an option for him, suppose he does not want to play the deputy role.
