Chelsea open negotiations to sign Brazilian attacker
Chelsea have reportedly initiated talks with Barcelona as they seek to land the signature of Philippe Coutinho during the next transfer window.
The Brazilian is presently on a season-long loan at Bayern Munich but he is expected to return to the Camp Nou at the end of the campaign.
According to Sport, the Blues have earmarked Coutinho as their prime attacking target and they have now made contact with the Blaugrana regarding a summer deal.
The west London side have made the early approach after holding talks with Coutinho's representative Kia Joorabchian with whom they have a close relationship.
Barcelona are said to demand a fee of around £75m for the permanent transfer of Coutinho but they are also open to the possibility of a loan deal with the option to buy.
Frank Lampard's side are likely to take the second option which seems a safer approach, suppose the playmaker is unable to make an impact on his Premier League return.
Coutinho, who has previously made more than 150 top-flight appearances with Livepool, has also been linked with London rivals Arsenal over the past few weeks.
