Liverpool want Napoli star to partner Virgil van Dijk?

Liverpool keen on landing Koulibaly

Liverpool are reportedly keen on partnering Virgil van Dijk with Kalidou Koulibaly, who has been tipped to leave Napoli at the end of the campaign.

Koulibaly, 28, is regarded as one of the best centre-backs in the world but he has been restricted to only 15 league appearances this term due to injury.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Napoli are likely to welcome offers for the Senegal international, who has been linked with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United in the past.

It is added that Jurgen Klopp's side are firmly in the hunt to sign the former Genk man as they seek to find the perfect partner for Van Dijk at the heart of the defence.

Koulibaly, who has made 233 appearances in his Napoli career, is likely to be available for a reduced fee of around £60m this summer amid the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

United were heavily linked with his services earlier this month but they don't view him as an 'essential target' with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer comfortable with his centre-back choices.

Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren are currently the other central defensive options at Anfield but the latter is expected to leave the club at the end of the season.
