Manchester United want Dutch star to replace Paul Pogba?
Manchester United could make the attempt to sign Donny Van de Beek from Ajax, should Paul Pogba head through the exit door duirng the summer.
Pogba has made only seven appearances in the league this term due to injuries but he continues to be linked with a possible departure from the club.
The likes of Real Madrid and Juventus are said to have expressed their interest in signing him and it is unclear whether United will lower their £100m asking price amid the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
According to TodoFichajes, it is suggested that United are already preparing for the departure of Pogba and they will step up their pursuit of Van de Beek as a result.
It is added that the Netherlands international is likely to pursue a fresh challenge away from Ajax, having previously turned down interest from Real Madrid to remain with the club last summer.
Van de Beek bagged eight goals and six assists in the league for Ajax before the season was declared null and void by the Dutch FA due to the COVID-19 threat.
With his contract expiring in two years' time, it is claimed that Ajax could demand a fee of around £35.1m to sanction his departure. Real Madrid could yet retain their interest in his services.
