Edinson Cavani makes surprise decision over his future
Edinson Cavani could reportedly snub the interest from Manchester United and Newcastle United to sign a contract extension at Paris Saint-Germain.
The Uruguayan's current deal with the French champions expires in June 30 and he has been widely fancied to make a move to the Premier League.
However, a report from L'Equipe suggests that Cavani could backtrack on the decision to leave Les Parisiens and put pen-to-paper on a fresh two-year deal.
Cavani has struggled for gametime this season due to injuries and the competition from Mauro Icardi but he has still managed to score seven times from 21 appearances in all competitions.
The Ligue 1 holders are reportedly planning to sign Icardi on a permanent deal from Inter Milan and it remains to be seen whether that decision has any influence on Cavani's choice.
United have been long-term admirers of the former Napoli man and they had attempted to sign him in January. Newcastle, on the other hand, are eyeing big-name signings with the anticipated £300m takeover from PCP Capital Partners.
