Chelsea set to target signing of Argentine left-back

Chelsea are likely to focus on signing Nicolas Tagliafico from Ajax after learning of the asking price for the Argentina international.

The left-back has been with the Dutch giants since January 2018 and over the past couple of years, he has built his reputation in European football.

He has been linked with a number of Premier League sides including Arsenal but it appears that the Blues are now prepared to enter the race.

The west London outfit are eyeing a new left-back during the summer transfer window and they have been linked with a move for Ben Chilwell in recent months.

Leicester City are said to demand at least £50m to part ways with the England international and that remains a stumbling block under the current financial climate.

Hence, they appear to have switch their attention towards Tagliafico, who could be available for as little as £22m when the transfer window reopens.

The Argentine has a verbal agreement to leave Ajax this summer after agreeing to remain with the club last year. He has made exactly 99 appearances for them to date.

Should the Blues sign a new left-back, the are expected to offload either Marcos Alonso or Emerson. The latter has been linked with a reunion with Antonio Conte at Inter Milan.
