Chelsea to sign Timo Werner from RB Leipzig
Chelsea have agreed personal terms with Timo Werner and the club are currently in the process of finalising his transfer from RB Leipzig, The Guardian's Fabrizio Romano reports.
The Germany international has been fancied to join Liverpool over the past few months and reports have previously claimed that he could remain with Leipzig next season, suppose the Reds decline to sign him.
However, in recent developments, the Blues have received the green light to sign the striker through his representative and have already finalised terms over a five-year contract.
It is added that they will now trigger the £50m release clause in the player's contract at Leipzig and a formal announcement regarding a transfer could be made in the next few days.
Blues boss Frank Lampard is believes to have played a key role in convincing the 24-year-old to join the club. Werner has been in red-hot form this term and he has already bagged 31 goals across all competitions.
