Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is confident about the club's prospects of extending the contract of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gabon international has only 12 months remaining in his deal and he recently revealed that the club have yet to propose a new contract.

Speaking in the press conference ahead of the Manchester City clash, Arteta said that the club have been constant discussions with Aubameyang and his encourage and he is pretty positive over the forward's future at the club.

"We have many discussions with Pierre, with his family and his agent. I’m pretty positive we can find the right agreement for all parties. I think it is our responsibility to make him feel this is the right next step in his career," He told.

Aubameyang has been in fine form for the north London giants this term and he has bagged 20 goals across all competitions - 17 of which have come in the Premier League.

As things stand, the club are within five points of the Champions League places with a game in hand over the Cityzens. They are scheduled to face Pep Guardiola's side on the road on Wednesday night.
