Arsenal make decision on Emiliano Martinez's future

Emiliano Martinez news

Arteta wants Martinez stay next season

Arsenal are prepared to stick with goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez for at least another season following his impressive performances in the Premier League.

The Argentine has been the back-up goalkeeper since the start of the season but earlier in May, he was linked with a possible summer exit with interest from the likes of Leeds United and Independiente.

Martinez restarted the campaign after the COVID-19 break as the deputy to Bernd Leno but he has earned a regular run of starts over the past few weeks with the German out injured with a knee ligament problem.

He is expected to keep his starting spot for the rest of the season with Leno needing another three weeks to make his recovery and The Mirror claims that Mikel Arteta is happy for the shot-stopper to stay with the club next term.

The 27-year-old has just over two years remaining on his current contract with the club. He has kept clean sheets in three of his previous four Premier League starts.
