Arsenal hold talks over deal for French defender

Malang Sarr news

Arsenal join Malang Sarr race

Arsenal have reportedly approached the representatives of Malang Sarr regarding a potential free transfer for the defender.

The 21-year-old left Nice after the expiry of his contract last month and he is now assessing his options ahead of next season.

A number of European sides are keeping an eye on his situation and The Sun claims that the Gunners have joined the pursuit, having made contact with his agents.

It is added that the north London club's chances of signing the centre-back remain slim at the moment, considering teams from Italy and Germany are already in advanced talks over a Bosman deal.

Sarr graduated through the youth system at Nice and he made 119 appearances for them in all competitions. The club were determined to keep hold of him, but he opted against extending his stay.

Arsenal are likely to recruit at least one new central defender ahead of next season. The new signing may replace Sokratis Papastathopoulos, who is expected to be sold.
