Bundesliga defender confirms Chelsea interest

Matthias Ginter news

Ginter has no plans of leaving Monchengladbach

Matthias Ginter has confirmed that Chelsea have made an approach to sign him, but he has no plans of leaving Borussia Monchengladbach during this summer's transfer window.

The centre-back played an instrumental role in the club's top four finish to the previous season, but he has since been linked with a potential move to the Premier League.

A recent report from Gladbach Live claimed that the Blues have proposed an exchange deal with Monchengladbach where they are willing to pay £9m and offer Andreas Christensen as a makeweight for German.

However, the west London club's chances of sealing the deal have been dashed with the player insistent that he has no plans of leaving the Bundesliga outfit this summer.

"I'm definitely staying in Gladbach. Of course I heard of the enquiries [from Chelsea] and was flattered by this attention. But I've said often enough how good things are for me in Gladbach," He told Kicker.

Chelsea are planning a major squad overhaul this summer and they are prepared to sell one of Christensen, Antonio Rudiger or Kurt Zouma to add a new central defender to their ranks.
