Arsenal to compete with Liverpool for Spanish midfielder
Arsenal could reportedly compete with Liverpool for the signing of Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara.
Alcantara has declined to sign a new contract with Bayern beyond June 2021, and that is expected to pave the way for his departure.
Liverpool have been touted as favourites to land his services with the player keen on working under manager Jurgen Klopp next term.
However, the Merseyside outfit have been reluctant to meet the £23m asking price and that has held up the potential agreement between the sides.
According to The Mail, the Gunners have now joined the race for the player's services, but they are in a similar boat to the Reds over the valuation.
Bayern are desperate to offload their midfielder rather than lose him on a free and they may be forced to reduce their price tag in the coming weeks.
Liverpool continue to remain the front-runners to sign him, but it remains to be seen whether Mikel Arteta can convince the midfielder to join the Gunners.
