Van de Beek to sign five-year deal

Manchester United are set to land the signature of Donny van de Beek from Ajax on a five-year contract, according to The Guardian.

The Red Devils agreed on a deal worth £40m with Ajax for the midfielder on Sunday and he has now undergone a successful medical.

According to The Guardian, he is now expected to put pen-to-paper on a five-year contract and the move will be announced in the next 24 hours.

Van de Beek, however, won't be presented in the club's shirt until he returns from international duty for the Netherlands.

He is set to become their first major signing of the summer transfer window and that should provide some relief for the fans.

Aside from Van de Beek, United are planning to land a new centre-back and Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho before the season begins next month.

Monaco's Benoit Badiashile and Leipzig's Dayot Upamecano are the prime central defensive targets for head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
