Lyon president speaks on Arsenal link with Houssem Aouar
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has revealed that Arsenal have yet to make a formal offer to sign Houssem Aouar this summer.
The Frenchman is regarded as one of the finest young midfielders in Ligue 1 and his performances over the past year have captured the Gunners' interest.
Over the past few weeks, it has been reported that Aouar wants to make the switch to the north London side, but the club have yet to make a formal offer.
Speaking to journalist Chris Wheatley, Aulas said that there are no offers yet for the playmaker and added to express doubts whether the Gunners can meet the asking price.
"No, I don't think so. There is no offer yet. It seems that Arsenal don't want to, or can't invest the price for Houssem, who is our best player," He told earlier on Friday.
Lyon are looking for something around £55m from the Gunners for Aouar and that fee remains out of their range at the moment, unless they can recoup funds from player sales.
The Gunners have already sold Emiliano Martinez to Aston Villa for around £20m and they are now looking at the prospect of offloading Lucas Torreira with interest from several clubs.
Torreira seemed on course to join Torino earlier this week, but reports have claimed that both AC Milan and Atletico Madrid have entered the pursuit of the Uruguayan.
