Aouar is not disappointed after failed Arsenal move

Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar has said that he has no disappointment after missing out on a summer move to Arsenal.

The Frenchman was heavily linked with the Gunners during the international transfer window, but a deal failed to materialise.

The north London side were willing to offer £32m plus add-ons for Aouar, but Les Gones were adamant that they wouldn't sell him for less than £50m.

Hence, there was a breakdown in the negotiations before the deadline and Aouar has now insisted that he is not disappointed with the outcome.

"Disappointed? I am the opposite. I am at home, in the club that I love, with my friends and my family," He was quoted as saying in a press conference for France.

"So certainly I have all my bearings and it is giving me even more motivation to have a good season and to bring the club back into the top places in France."

The Gunners may have missed out on Aouar's services, but they still managed to make the headlines on deadline day as they secured the signature of Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid.

The capital outfit triggered the £45m buy-out clause on the midfielder's contract and hence signed him before the international transfer window closed on Monday night.
