Arteta updates on Rob Holding's injury

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Rob Holding was excluded from the matchday squad to face Manchester City due to a hamstring problem.

The centre-back was initially picked in the starting lineup to face the Cityzens, but he pulled up in the warm-up after feeling tightness in his hamstring.

As a result, David Luiz took his position on the right side of the back three and he produced a solid performance despite the club's 1-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium.

Speaking after the game, Arteta said that he is unsure over the extent of Holding's injury, he was quoted as saying by Arsenal.com: "We don’t know [how bad it is].

"But it was bad enough to make the decision to get Rob out of the game and to get David in. David was really focused, he came on and I think he had a really good game."

Arsenal have suffered two defeats from their opening five games of the new Premier League campaign. They are currently fifth in the standings, four points behind leaders Everton.
