Maguire, Cavani to miss PSG clash

Manchester United have left Harry Maguire and Edinson Cavani from the travelling squad to face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Maguire has received plenty of criticism for his performances this term, but he recently starred in the 4-1 win over Newcastle United, where he scored the Red Devils' equaliser.

Despite this, the club-captain won't be involved in the first game of the Champions League group stage after manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decided against picking him in the travelling squad.

Elsewhere, deadline day signing Cavani has just returned to training after completing his 14-day self-isolation period. Hence, he has not been deemed fit enough to face his former side.

United will make the trip to Parc des Princes to face the French champions on Tuesday night. They have happy memories of their previous visit in 2019 where a 3-1 win saw them progress to the quarter-finals on the away goal rule.

Marcus Rashford scored the match-winning penalty in the dying seconds of second-half stoppage time. The spotkick was awarded after a handball from Presnel Kimpembe which was spotted by the referee through VAR.
