Chelsea to make fresh £60m move for Premier League star

Declan Rice news

Rice wanted by Chelsea in January

Chelsea will reportedly make a renewed attempt to sign Declan Rice from West Ham United during the winter transfer window.

The Blues were keen on landing Rice earlier this summer, but they were unable to raise funds to meet the £60m valuation.

According to The Athletic, manager Frank Lampard remains keen on signing the midfielder and a fresh move will be made in January.

It is added that the Blues will have to offload some of the fringe players in their squad in order to raise funds to meet the price tag.

The west London giants spent more than £220m to land seven players this summer which include Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz.

Rice was the final target for Lampard and it will be interesting to see whether the Hammers will consider his sale midway through the season.

Rice has been ever-present for the Hammers in the Premier League this term. He has more than four years remaining on his contract with the club.
