Elneny set for new Arsenal contract

Egypt international Mohamed Elneny could reportedly earn a new contract following his impressive displays for Arsenal this term.

The 28-year-old spent the previous season on loan with Besiktas and it was suggested that he could be sold on his comeback.

However, Mikel Arteta decided to reintegrate him into his plans instead and the midfielder has proved his worth with some quality performances.

He has made eight starts for the Gunners this term and one of his best displays came in the 1-0 win at Manchester United last weekend.

According to The Mail, Arteta has been left impressed with Elneny's showing and he is open to rewarding him with a new deal.

Elneny's current contract expires at the end of next season and it is reported that the board could open talks over a renewal before the end of the year.

Elneny and Thomas Partey dominated the proceedings in midfield at Old Trafford and they are expected to start against Aston Villa on Sunday.
