Emerson speaks on his Chelsea future

Emerson open to January Chelsea exit

Italian defender Emerson has said that he will look for a fresh challenge away from Chelsea when the transfer window reopens in January.

The left-back barely played for the Blues during the backend of the previous season and he has been restricted to just four appearances this term.

It is quite clear that Ben Chilwell is the preferred left-back option for the Blues and reports have claimed that Emerson could be on the move this winter.

Speaking to Calciomercato, Emerson said that he has been advised by Italian boss Roberto Mancini to play more regularly and will assess his options in January.

"Here at the national team I play, I have fun and I'm fine. The coach told me that the best solution for me is to play, at Chelsea or in another team, let's wait for the next two months and see what will happen," He told.

Aside from Emerson, the Blues have Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta, who are capable of playing back-up for the left-back position. They are still unlikely to sell him on the cheap. He is valued at around £25m.
