Wenger signs new deal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has signed a new three year deal at Arsenal, worth an estimated £75,000 a week. Wenger revealed that he feels a "responsibility" to stay at the club after 11 years, and to help continue the development of the crop of young stars he has brought through.

"Am I still motivated to go on at Arsenal? Yes absolutely. I am very motivated," Wenger told RMC radio.

Wenger also revealed that the sale of Thierry Henry may have helped the club in its positive start to the season, the Frenchman believes the youngsters have now taken on more responsibility at Arsenal.

The manager will be set to stay at the club until 2011. Wenger's future had been the subject of conjecture all summer, following the departure of former vice-chairman David Dein in April.

"It is wonderful news for Arsenal Football Club that Arsene has signed an extension to his contract," said a delighted chairman, Peter Hill-Wood.
