Liverpool yet to make offer for Dutch centre-back

Liverpool only monitoring Schuurs

Liverpool have yet to make an offer for Ajax defender Perr Schuurs contrary to the speculation last week.

The Red have experienced a testing campaign with numerous injuries and they are currently without Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez, who are the first-choice centre-backs.

No return date has been mentioned for either player and there has been speculation that they could pursue a new central defender when the transfer window reopens.

Earlier last week, the name of Schuurs popped up in the media and it was reported that the Reds had made an official offer worth £27m to sign him from the Dutch champions.

However, according to Voetbal Primeur, Jurgen Klopp's side are only monitoring his progress and have not made any approach to sign him from Ajax in January.

Schuurs has been the regular central defensive partner for Daley Blind over the past 18 months. He has already represented the Netherlands at the Under-21 level where he has earned 13 caps.
