AS Roma are reportedly plotting a loan move for Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud this month.

The 34-year-old has enjoyed a good season with the Blues, registering nine goals from 18 appearances in all competitions.

He was recently named in the starting lineup for Thomas Tuchel's first game as the Blues boss, but there continues to remain speculation over his future.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Giallorossi are hoping to land Giroud on loan for the rest of the season as they aim to find a replacement for Edin Dzeko.

Dzeko was recently stripped from the captaincy after clashing with Roma boss Paulo Fonseca over the dismissal of team manager Gianluca Gomber.

He is looking to pursue a fresh challenge before the transfer deadline and reports claim that he could end up joining Juventus.

Meanwhile, Giroud has previously said that he would assess his future in January, but it is highly unlikely that he may leave the club.

He has only five months left on his contract, but may stay longer, should Tuchel assure him with regular playing time.
