Arsenal could sign Martin Odegaard permanently, if this happens
Arsenal will boost their chances of signing Martin Odegaard on a permanent basis from Real Madrid, if they qualify for European football.
The 22-year-old joined the Gunners on a short-term loan in January and he initially made a slow beginning.
However, he has recently impressed with goals in back-to-back games and manager Mikel Arteta is keen on a permanent move.
According to The Mirror, the north London giants will be able to meet Madrid's asking price for Odegaard, only if they are playing in Europe next term.
It is added that Europa League or Champions League football could be key to recouping funds for the purchase of Odegaard.
The Gunners are currently 10th in the league, seven points behind West Ham United, who are holding the final European spot.
They can close the gap to at most four points, should they beat their cross-city counterparts at the London Stadium this weekend.
Meanwhile, Arteta's side can secure a direct route to the Champions League group stage by winning the Europa League this term.
