Johnstone wanted back by Man United

Manchester United could attempt to re-sign West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Sam Johnstone when the transfer window reopens.

The 28-year-old has been with the Baggies for three seasons, but could be sold with the club's likely relegation from the Premier League.

Johnstone has been one of their leading performers this term, and he has come up with a stunning tally of 120 saves in the top-flight.

According to The Sun, the Red Devils will make a surprise move for Johnstone, if one of Dean Henderson or David de Gea head for a summer exit.

De Gea appears the likely candidate after falling behind Henderson in the pecking order. He has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain.

Johnstone spent more than a decade with the Red Devils, but he failed to make a competitive appearance for them in any competition.

His recent displays earned him a maiden call-up to the England national side, and it remains to be seen whether he will accept a deputy role with United.

Johnstone's contract expires in 14 months, and it is reported that he could be available for just £10m. Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with him.
