Arsenal enter race to sign Jesse Lingard
Arsenal are rumoured to be the latest club to have expressed an interest in Man Utd midfielder Jesse Lingard after an impressive loan spell at West Ham.
Amidst reports of a potential swap deal between Manchester United and West Ham United involving midfielder Lingard and Declan Rice, reports suggest that numerous other teams are monitoring the situation of both England international midfielders.
The 28-year-old has captivated West Ham supporters with an array of outstanding performances that has seen a return of 6 goals in just 8 games for his club, pushing the Irons to fourth in the Premier League table with just 8 games to go.
However, North London rivals Arsenal are amongst those teams said to be monitoring Lingard's transfer status, with the player being informed by Old Trafford personnel that his career at the club is likely finished.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been concerned with the recent form of his attacking talent, and with the continued uncertainty regarding Martin Odegaard's future at the club. Thus, Arsenal are set to table an offer for Lingard and are ready to bid upwards of £25 million for the player, according to the Metro.
With one year remaining on his United contract, this would offer a significant return for the club.
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to have confirmed that Lingard is surplus to requirements at the club.
