Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that AC Milan will trigger the buy clause in the loan contract of Fikayo Tomori.

The England international joined the Rossoneri on loan in January after he was out-of-favour under then-Chelsea boss Frank Lampard.

Tomori made 22 appearances for Milan during the back end of the campaign, and he helped them qualify for the Champions League.

According to Romano, the club are now expected to sign Tomori permanently with the £25m buy option available to them.

A section of the Blues' hierarchy believe the club made a mistake to include a buy clause in the temporary deal for their graduate.

Tomori could have revived his career under manager Thomas Tuchel but instead, he looks set to secure his long-term future with Milan.

The Rossoneri are also interested in signing Blues striker Olivier Giroud, but they will have to pay a fee for the World Cup winner.

Giroud's contract was due to expire this month, but the Blues have exercised a clause to extend his stay for another year.
