Arsenal open contract talks with 24-year-old star
Arsenal have reportedly opened negotiations with defender Kieran Tierney over a new long-term contract.
The Scot has been one of the club's top performers. He registered two goals and five assists from 38 appearances last term.
According to football.london, the club have now opened talks over a new contract despite three years remaining on his deal.
The 24-year-old had another injury-plagued campaign with the Gunners, but he excelled with consistent displays when fit.
The Gunners are planning to promote him to the leadership group. There are suggestions that he could be the vice-captain.
Hector Bellerin currently occupies the position, but he is expected to head through the exit door this summer.
Meanwhile, the Gunners are considering a young player, who can provide quality back-up to Tierney at left-back.
Hibernian's Josh Doig has emerged as an option, but they face stiff competition from Celtic and Leeds United.
The duo are prepared to guarantee regular game time to the teenager.
