Rudiger stalling over new Chelsea deal

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger is reportedly stalling over a new contract amid the club's plans to land another centre-back.

The Germany international was out-of-favour under manager Frank Lampard during the first half of the previous campaign.

However, he became a regular during the backend of the season when Thomas Tuchel succeeded Lampard as the head coach.

Rudiger played a key part in the club finishing in the top four and winning the Champions League for the second time in their history.

His current deal with the Blues expires in June next year, but he has yet to give the green light for the contract renewal.

Rudiger is still concerned over his position, and wants to assess his game time until January before deciding on his future.

The Blues are looking for an elite defender, and they have been heavily linked with a move for Real Madrid's Raphael Varane.

The World Cup winner could be available for around £60 million this summer.
