Arsenal still locked in talks to sign Ben White

Ben White: on his way to Arsenal this summer

Arsenal have edged a step closer to completing a move for Brighton and Hove Albion defender Ben White, with the Gunners having already agreed personal terms with the England international defender. According to reports first circulated by David Ornstein, the Gunners are keen on making White their primary transfer target this summer.

With numerous teams having engaged Brighton’s management team regarding a move for White, Arsenal appear to have secured pole position in the race for the defender who was a member of England’s Euro 2020 squad.

David Ornstein was amongst the first to report that Arsenal were chasing White, with the reporters network of contacts at Arsenal again coming through for the Athletic reporter.

It is understood that Arsenal have had an initial bid of £42 million rejected, and are willing to increase their bid to £47 million in order to secure the versatile defender.

White has three years remaining at the South Coast club, and with uncertainty regarding manager Graham Potter’s future, the club could be set for a busy summer - and not just for the playing staff.
