Chelsea make transfer announcement, first signing confirmed
Chelsea have confirmed their first signing of the summer transfer window with Marcus Bettinelli joining on a free transfer.
The goalkeeper was a free-agent after his Fulham contract expired on June 30, and he has now penned a two-year deal with the Blues.
He told Chelseafc.com: "It’s always been a special club. I know the area very well so it’s been a dream of mine to come over to this side and it’s finally happened."
Bettinelli was on the Blues' radar six years ago, but he rejected their advances as he was reluctant to play as the back-up goalkeeper.
He has now accepted a similar role. He will be the third choice for the Blues next season behind Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Chelsea are yet to make any high-profile signings, but they are in advanced negotiations to land Jules Kounde from Sevilla.
The club are prepared to include Kurt Zouma as a makeweight. They are prepared to pay around €35m in cash for the Frenchman.
