Atletico Madrid defender Kieran Trippier is optimistic about his chances of joining Manchester United this summer.

The England international was a boyhood United fan, and he is reportedly keen on signing for the Red Devils.

According to ESPN, the club are looking to make more signings, but they need to recoup funds from player sales first.

The likes of Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Axel Tuanzebe could head through the exit door in the coming weeks.

Trippier is one of the top targets for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but he won't come on the cheap with a £30m price tag.

The Englishman has been identified as the ideal competitor to Aaron Wan-Bissaka for the right-back position next term.

Wan-Bissaka has been excellent defensively for United, but he has not offered much in an attacking point of view.

Solskjaer believe he could learn from Trippier. The 30-year-old is awaiting a late summer approach from the Red Devils to sign him.
