La Liga star rejects summer move to Chelsea

Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez has rejected a move to Chelsea before next week's transfer deadline, 90min claims.

The Spaniard has been fancied to leave Atletico this month with manager Diego Simeone unlikely to guarantee him starts.

He has played 90 minutes in each of the first two league games, but is expected to lose his place when Rodrigo De Paul is fit.

The Blues recently proposed to sign him on loan with the option for a permanent purchase at the end of the season.

They seemed favourites to land his signature, but 90min claims that the midfielder has now snubbed advances from them.

Blues boss Thomas Tuchel refused to assure him regular playing time, and therefore, the midfielder has decided to look elsewhere.

Liverpool were heavily linked with his services earlier in the transfer window, but they seem satisfied with their existing options.

Manchester United were keen on landing a defensive midfielder earlier this month, but seem unlikely to do so after Cristiano Ronaldo's purchase.

The club have agreed to pay Ronaldo a staggering £480,000-a-week for his comeback. They are unlikely to make any more signings.
