Christensen set for Chelsea contract extension

Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen is expected to sign a new four-year contract with the club, Goal.com reports.

The Dane became a regular during the backend of the previous campaign, and he has continued to impress under Thomas Tuchel.

He recently entered the final year of his contract, but it is widely anticipated that he will stay with the club for the long-term.

According to Goal.com, the Blues have made a breakthrough in the negotiations over a new deal with the centre-back.

Christensen is expected to put pen-to-paper on a four-year contract with the European champions with a significant salary hike.

The announcement could be made prior to the international break. The Blues are still discussing terms with some of his teammates.

The club are keen to keep Antonio Rudiger beyond June next year, but the German is assessing his options before making a decision.

With the potential arrival of Jules Kounde, the experienced campaigner is evaluating offers from the likes of PSG and Real Madrid.
