Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel confirms Harry Kane talks
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane was on the club's radar during the summer transfer window.
Kane was heavily linked with an exit last month. It seemed that he was on course to join Manchester City before he made the decision to stay.
Speaking ahead of Sunday's game against Spurs, Tuchel revealed that he did not make any recommendation for Kane this summer.
However, the German added that the club's representatives were in contact with the striker's agents, though a deal was never likely.
He said: "There are many people around players - their agents and advisors and people in between and we had some information from these people, but it was never that close."
Kane has less than three years remaining on his contract at Spurs. City are unlikely to return for his services after the summer setback.
There are suggestions that Kane could sign a new deal with the north London club, provided they are willing to insert a release clause.
Otherwise, he is expected to continue on his existing deal such that he can force Spurs to sanction his sale at the end of the campaign.
