Manchester United pushing to extend contract of attacker

Jesse Lingard news

Lingard set for new United deal?

Manchester United are actively working to renew the contract of Jesse Lingard, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 28-year-old has netted two goals from the bench this season, with one of those being the winner at West Ham United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer obviously values the contributions of the attacker, and it is claimed that contract talks are underway.

Lingard's current deal expires in 10 months' time, but the hierarchy are keen to commit him to a new long-term contract.

They are in constant communication with Lingard's father and agent. Solskjaer is playing a key role in the negotiations.

Lingard was out-of-favour with United last year. He was loaned out to the Hammers during the back end of last season.

The move proved a blessing in disguise for him. He bagged nine goals and six assists from just 16 games in all competitions.

Solskjaer made it clear that he would not be sold this summer. Lingard was equally happy to stay and fight for his place.
