Liverpool confirm midfielder injury blow
Liverpool have suffered a fresh midfield injury blow with Thiago Alcantara likely to be sidelined for at least two games.
The Reds are already without Harvey Elliott for several months after his ankle fracture, and it has now been confirmed that Thiago is out for a while.
The Spaniard picked up a calf injury during the Premier League clash against Crystal Palace. He is ruled out for at least two matches.
A further examination is scheduled later this week. There are concerns that he could be sidelined for a lengthier period of time.
Thiago joined the Reds from Bayern Munich during the summer of 2020 under much fanfare, but he had an average debut campaign.
He has continued to struggle for consistency this term. The latest setback is yet another blow for the 2020 Champions League winner.
The Reds still have plenty of cover with Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Curtis Jones.
