Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani has reportedly emerged as a January target for Real Madrid.

The Uruguayan joined the Red Devils for free last summer. He bagged 17 goals and nine assists during his debut season.

He has yet to get off the mark this term. Cavani's game time has been limited with the sensational return of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Cavani's current deal expires in June next year, and there are already suggestions that he could leave as early as January.

According to El Nacional, Los Blancos president Florentino Perez wants a new striker this winter. Cavani is under consideration.

Kylian Mbappe and Erling Braut Haaland are the prime targets, but neither are likely to be available midway through the campaign.

Perez is eyeing a stopgap option at the turn of the year. Cavani has been identified as the top target amid his struggles at United.

Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is also on their radar, but there is the acceptance that the Gunners won't listen to offers for him.
