Thomas Tuchel confirms defender blow for Brentford game
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Thiago Silva will be unavailable for the Premier League clash against Brentford.
The Brazil international has been called up by the national team, and he could be playing three World Cup qualifier games.
The final of those fixtures will be played on Friday morning (GMT). He will only report back to the club on Saturday.
On the same day, the Blues are scheduled to face Brentford on the road, and it is for certain that Silva won't make the squad.
Tuchel has confirmed the same with an update on the club's official website.
He said: "He will go and then he will play for Brazil and then he will come back on the matchday versus Brentford."
"This is the life of international breaks, this is the situation of international breaks in 2021."
Silva did not travel during the previous international break, but Brazil decided against suspending him for five days.
It was with the promise that he would report for the next one. Silva is expected to face Venezuela later this week.
